A Bio-Sweetener: Stevia

Stevia is one of the most studied natural sweeteners in recent years. For a long time, due to its sweetening and therapeutic properties, stevia (also called sugar herb or sugar plant) has been used as a sweetener and food additive in Paraguay and Brazil, and for some time in Japan. The extract obtained from stevia is believed to have a blood sugar regulating effect. Some research on stevia supports its use in the treatment of diabetes.

Ingredients of Stevia

Stevia leaves are rich in phenolic compounds. They also contain vitamin C, carotenoids, chlorophylls, and possess antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.

Where does stevia grow?

Stevia is a plant that grows in humid environments, reaching a height of 60-90 cm, at an average temperature of 25 °C, and some species at altitudes of 2300-2900 meters. It is a member of the daisy family.

What does stevia taste like?

Stevia is zero-calorie. Thanks to its compounds, undried stevia is 10-15 times sweeter than regular sugar, while dried stevia has 200-300 times more sweetness. Sweeteners are substances that are sweeter than the same amount of sugar and contain less energy. Stevia is a widely used natural sweetener in many products. It is particularly suitable for people with obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. However, it is important not to consume it without consulting a doctor. We do not recommend our stevia-containing products to those allergic to herbs such as chamomile tea.

Stevia and Lazika

In Lazika, we chose to use Stevia in our "Amusement Park" blend from our "Sensitive Blends" and in our Cold Brew Herbal Tea containing Hibiscus. If you lose track of time while drinking "Amusement Park," you're on the right track!

Enjoy your meal, Lazika lovers!

Tugce.
