Tea and Biscuits – Part 2

Biscuit Dipping Test Results

At Lazika, we place great importance on shedding light on the unknown. R&D is key. Again, we spared no expense and, after testing our local and national biscuits, we also tested imported biscuits. May the best one win, and we want you to feel free to dip your biscuits in your tea.

Our Test Parameters

Our test parameters remain unchanged:

  • Recommended immersion time
  • Degradation time in tea
  • Maximum immersion time for accident-free eating.
  • Recommended total meal time

1. Lotus

Lotus, a biscuit made in the Netherlands, is extremely popular abroad as a tea/coffee accompaniment. In Türkiye, it's very difficult to find it outside of major supermarket chains. Lotus is a delicious blend of caramel and biscuit. Some people love it, others don't. So, how did Lotus perform in our test?

Lotus Biscoff Caramelized

  • Decomposition time in tea: 6.30 seconds
  • Recommended immersion time: 3.20 seconds
  • Maximum immersion time for accident-free eating: 5.08 seconds.
  • Recommended total meal time: 5.30 seconds

Try to eat the Lotus Biscoff within 5.30 seconds of dipping it in tea. Anything less could be disastrous.

Our rating for Lotus Biscoff Caramelized: 8/10

2. Mc Vities

Another imported biscuit, McVities, is quite popular, especially in the UK, with its various types. Apparently, 70 million packs are produced annually. You could say it's like our Eti Burçak biscuit, but covered in chocolate.

McVities

  • Decomposition time in tea: 29.30 seconds
  • Recommended immersion time: 6.50 seconds
  • Maximum immersion time for accident-free eating: 22.13 seconds.
  • Recommended total meal time: 7.33 seconds

McVities are quite delicious with tea, and the dipping time is surprisingly long. If you're looking for a soft, satisfying eating experience like other biscuits, you're in for a disappointment.

Our rating for McVities: 7/10

3. Oreo

We've also added Oreo, a very popular biscuit both in Türkiye and abroad, to our list of things to try for our addicted customers.

Oreo

  • Decomposition time in tea: 19.35 seconds
  • Recommended immersion time: 5.98 seconds
  • Maximum immersion time for accident-free eating: 22.13 seconds.
  • Recommended total meal time: 7.23 seconds

We've decided that Oreo's true best friend is milk. Its cocoa biscuit and cream filling, when paired with tea, don't leave the same delicious taste in your mouth as other biscuits.

Our rating for Oreo: 5/10

4. Honeysuckle Chocodolu

Almost all of us know Hanımeller. Two years ago, Ülker added a new variety called Çokodolu to the Hanımeller family.

Honeysuckle Chodolu

  • Decomposition time in tea: 14.65 seconds
  • Recommended immersion time: 5.02 seconds
  • Maximum immersion time for accident-free eating: 10.17 seconds.
  • Recommended total meal time: 7.49 seconds

I think we've found the perfect biscuit to accompany tea. Its resistance to falling apart quickly and the way its runny chocolate becomes wonderful with the warmth of the tea are definitely enough to make it number one on this list.

Our rating for Hanımeller Çokodolu: 9/10

5. Eti Hoşbeş

Eti Hoşbeş is another product that could be considered a strong contender, thanks to its chocolate cream filling and fresh wafer combined with tea.

Eti Hoşbeş

  • Decomposition time in tea: 86.14 seconds
  • Recommended immersion time: 6.26 seconds
  • Maximum immersion time for accident-free eating: 62.17 seconds.
  • Recommended total meal time: 7.19 seconds

Hoşbeş, when paired with tea, leaves a very good flavor. However, despite all these good qualities, the wafer part didn't react very well with the tea and became excessively soft, which slightly affected its taste.

Our rating for Hoşbeş: 8/10
